New Content
- Skill Move: Close Call - Catch a block that's close to hitting you.
- Skill Move: Near Miss - Narrowly dodge a falling block.
- Upgrade: Triple Jump - The ability to jump three times... duh.
- Upgrade: Deflector Shield - A physical shield that deflects falling obstacles from above you.
- Upgrade: Movement Speed Increase - I think this one is self-explanatory.
- Upgrade: Resize Block - Grants you the ability to adjust the size of a block with the scroll wheel.
- Upgrade: Solidify Block - Allows you to right click a block whilst holding it to freeze it in place. Right click again to un-freeze it (limited charges).
- Upgrade: Combine Blocks - The ability to combine two blocks to create an even bigger block via pressing 'Q'.
- Upgrade: Phaseshift - Enter the phase realm to become immune and pass through blocks until you are above them, activated by pressing 'Left Shift' (cooldown based).
- Upgrade: Instant Checkpoint - Press 'E' to instantly travel to the next checkpoint (maximum of 2 uses per game).
- Upgrade: Second Chance - Come back from the dead and restart at the last checkpoint (one use per game).
Quality of Life Changes
- There is now a cooldown radial/wheel that appears on an obstacle whilst it's on cooldown.
- Unlocking the shield item will replace the unlock button with the shield capacity upgrade now.
- Each shop item now has a tooltip that is displayed.
- A lifetime statistics page has been added to the main menu.
- Modified the layering of the health, shield and grab bars so that they appear above everything else.
- The reset button only resets statistics and tutorial progress now.
Gameplay Changes
- While an obstacle is being held it can no longer rotate.
- Obstacles now smoothly reset their rotation whilst being held.
- The weight of each obstacle is now more realistic. Meaning that larger cubes are heavier and vice versa.
- Reduced the speed at which the player could drag obstacles slightly.
- Obstacles that are a part of a tower are now slightly harder to move.
- Obstacles now slowly sink in the lava if they are not part of a tower, giving players time to drag them out.
- Bouncy cubes are no longer an upgrade, they now spawn at higher difficulties.
- Added two new difficulties: "Extremely Hard" and "Gamer Mode", good luck getting there!
Gameplay Tuning
- Grab time has been increased from 2 seconds to 3 seconds.
- Small cubes are now 0.5x larger.
- Medium cubes are now 0.12x larger.
- Movement speed on the ground and in the air has been significantly reduced.
- Reduced the speed at which the player progresses through difficulties.
- The speed increase between each difficulty has been lowered slightly.
- The time it takes for the lava to start rising on each new platform now increases with difficulty, allowing you more time to get started.
- The chance of a special obstacle spawning has been lowered significantly.
- The spawn chances of all normal obstacles have been modified slightly to provide a more consistent experience.
- Filling your shield or health bar now only adds an additional coin to the price, instead of doubling each time.
- The coin multiplier now caps at 8x.
- Increased the player's jump height slightly.
Bug Fixes
- Fixed an issue that prevented the player from sliding audio sliders to their minimum value.
- Fixed an issue that caused players to be stuck in place when pushing against obstacles.
- Fixed an issue that caused non-interactable buttons to still play the select sound effect when hovered over.
- Fixed an issue that caused the lava to rise faster than the camera at higher difficulties.
- Fixed an issue that prevented the difficulty from being displayed past "Very Hard".
- Fixed an issue that made wide insta-kill cubes non-emissive.
- Fixed an issue that caused the player to get stuck on the corner of some obstacles.
- Fixed an issue that prevented tutorial page one from showing if pressing the left arrow button.
- Fixed an issue that caused obstacles to spawn off the screen.
- Fixed an issue that would cause the health bar to display a different value to the current health of the player.
Additional Changes
- Removed the interactive tutorial as it was taking too much time to implement.
Notice for all players
There is a lot that has been introduced in this update, so there will be bugs/problems that need fixing and tuning changes that need to be made. To help me identify them, please use the in-game feedback system via 'F12' to report any bugs or feedback. And finally, this game is hard. To get far you need to use a combination of tower stacking and smart ability uses, so please keep that in mind before you throw your computer out the window. :)
Notice for MacOS players
Due to how limited my ability to test the Mac build of the game is, there may be some new bugs that are present. On top of that, the performance/update rate of the game may be significantly different which can make the game much harder to play. As always, use the in-game feedback system via 'F12' to report any bugs or feedback!
